Macedonian Rosés Part 1

With summer lurking just around the corner, I present you with some lovely rosé wines as an accompaniment to the ongoing strawberry season and the lovely breezy sunny days.

Bovin Ana-Maria Rosé 2020, WCGO Tikves Wine District
A dry rosé with deep salmon color produced from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense red berry aromatics, strawberries, and cherries dominating. Pomegranate flavors await us on the palate with a certain heaviness and a touch of residual sugar, all well balanced with good acidity. A lovely summer sipper! Bovin Ana-Maria Rosé 2020

Venec Rosé Premium 2020, WCO Tikves Wine District
Dry wine produced from the Merlot variety from the winery’s own vineyards located in the village of Zad Gradishte. It is characterized by a lovely pale salmon color. Elegant nose that has fairly intense scents of juicy raspberries, forest strawberries, and red currants and faint fragance of red citrus fruits. The palate is soft and smooth with freshness & fruitiness of crunchy redberry fruits and silk red bonbon sweetness accompanied by spicy undertones of fresh green pepper tree branches. A wine that is characterized by pleasant acidity and a long aftertaste of red grapefruit skins. A pure crowd-pleaser! Venec Rosé Premium 2020

Lazar Fortuna Rosé 2020, WCO Tikves Wine District
Lovely pale pink color rosé in a very attractive bottle. Produced from Cabernet Sauvignon variety it showcases raspberry and forest strawberry on the nose, followed by a crisp palate rich in red currants and lingering raspberry fruitiness. Lazar Fortuna Rosé 2020

Domaine Lepovo Rosé 2020, WCO Tikves Wine District
Dry rosé obtained from Grenache Noir and Merlot varieties. Lovely pale salmon color with zesty citrus and cranberry on the nose, moving seamlessly on the palate where raspberries, strawberries, white stone fruits await us. All this underpinned by clean, crisp acidity. Currently, the most expensive Macedonian rosé. Domaine Lepovo Rosé 2020

Kuvin Makedonska Ubavina Stanushna 2020, WCO Skopje Wine District
An elegant rosé from the indigenous Macedonian variety Stanushina from a small producer located in Skopje. Dry wine featuring aromas of wild strawberry rose blossoms and dogwood. Fruity on the palate with more red berry flavors. The taste is elegant and long-lasting, and the finish is fresh and pleasant.
